For the past four years, I have been creating treasure maps during the earliest days of spring. For a couple of weeks before creating a treasure map, it is wise to think about what you really want for yourself in the next year. It is also good to clean the house and the house is a metaphor of your inner life.
You are allowed to be audacious.
I pray and ask God to help me discern what I want that is good for me.
This is for you, it is a deeply personal journey.
It *works* I'll post my first and most recent treasure maps.
The first one was much more straightforward and of this world. Everything either has happened or something better or it was more or less. I graduated magna cum laude instead of sigma cum laude. I got my Ikkyu but stopped karate, I got the boat and it looks just like that one but green instead of red. Pat and I went to Whistler mountain the following year and, thank God, Jo came home safely.
The more recent one is more conceptual, thrive in school which, for me, means not worrying so much about grades. Succcessful research, inspiration for my book, balance and direction.
If you are interested in doing a treasure map, start cleaning and decluttering, make space for good things to come into your life. Search your heart and discover what you want for this upcoming year; better yet, pray and ask God what is good for you to want (beware of some wishes.)
If you are a local friend, you are welcome to come over on April 16th and get started here. I'll provide canvas and paints, you will need some inspiration.
Finally, be *audacious* dream big dreams, don't shortchange yourself, there is nothing too big or too small for this project.
Next year at this time, you will be amazed.
